This is my 3rd annual trip to Florida. This years plan: fly into Tampa, drive two hours to Little Gasparilla Island to visit friends for a few days, then head 2hrs to fly out of Fort Myers. Time frame: One week. Goals: See and experience as much of Florida as we possibly can!
The first day in Tampa it was cold and rainy so we didn’t do much. The next morning we woke up and drove one hour to Sarasota…still very cold and veryy rainy!
First we stopped at St. Armands Circle, which has tons of restaurants and shopping. We came across the Green Zebra Cafe, and stopped in for lunch. I had a vegan taco salad that was the best salad I have EVER had!! We walked around a bunch of shops but our favorite was the Pepper Palace where you can sample 200 different hot sauces, mustards and rubs!!
As we finished up shopping, the rain was finally clearing so we headed to the beach for the sunset. We went to Siesta Key Beach, one of the top beaches in the world, where the sand is 99% quartz and the softest sand I have ever felt.
While it was definitely odd being in long pants, a sweater and a fleece in southern Florida, it was still one of the most beautiful sunsets I have ever seen.
To end the day we had dinner at Veg and Grill, one of the many vegan restaurants in Sarasota (who knew?!). This restaurant impressed me as they didn’t use meat substitutes like tofu or tempeh, but just used natural unprocessed foods to create really delicious and filling meals.
The vegan buffalo cauliflower was my favorite!! The best alternative to buffalo chicken, and even the ranch dressing was vegan as it was made from nuts!
After dinner I ended the night with selfies, the perfect end to an awesome day.😂😂😂
